Our Story
Granich Partners has its beginning in March 1976 when, just a few months after being admitted to the bar and after harvesting his crop at Moorine Rock, Alex Granich and his young family moved to Merredin where Alex established a law practice as a sole practitioner. The move to Merredin was a homecoming for Alex whose family had been farming and contracting in the Eastern Wheatbelt since the 1920s.
Alex who was raised in the wheatbelt, soon gained an understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by farmers, regional businesses and rural people from the vantage point of the legal advisor. The commitment, optimism, humour, community spirit and down-to-earth nature of these people informed Alex’s values as a lawyer.
In 1983 the practice moved to West Perth, then the central business district of Perth before returning to West Perth in 2001 and relocating to South Perth in August 2020.
We have acted as legal advisers for over 45 years to many individuals and small businesses (including farmers) in the Metropolitan and Regional areas of Western Australia. We are conscious of the fact that we are living in an increasingly impersonalised world where people are growing tired of the clinical and detached treatment offered by many organisations. At Granich Partners we guarantee to provide you with personal, professional and principled service.
Principled, Professional and Personal
Principled to us means conducting our practice with an integrity grounded in the principle that the client’s interest is paramount. All clients matters are conducted with transparency and accountability that we would want for ourselves in a similar situation.
Professional to us means undertaking legal work to the highest level of skill and bringing to bear over 45 years of legal experience to their firm. This includes the longstanding relationship with the independent bar of Western Australia where there is a need for specialist legal advice.
To us, personal means caring about each client as a person and providing an environment that is understanding and respectful of the needs and concerns of each client in seeking legal advice.
The Role of the Legal Profession
At Granich Partners we believe a strong independent legal professional to be an essential pillar of a rules-based society. Historically, the legal profession has played an important part in the development of society from one run for the benefit of a privileged few to more open, just, equitable and commercially competitive society.
It is the role of the legal profession to defend personal liberty and property, to protect against government overreach, to stand against discrimination and to assist people to achieve their financial goals as harmoniously as possible and with minimum erosion through taxation, dispute or third party claims.
